Software installed in the systems
Depending on the unit and it's features the
following software is installed. Often times this is freeware that
is equal to or even better than the same thing you pay for with bigger
companies. For example AntiVir is a virus protection that I believe outdoes
Norton and does not slow your system down plus do a bunch of "odd"
stuff. AntiVir is free for personal use but one of the most used of anti-virus
software products for business internationally. Open Office is close to Microsoft Office and Gimp is close to Adobe
Photoshop and is complete enough to satisfy professional artists, photographers
or graphic designers.... especially when combined with the features of Deep
Paint.
Software packs include AntiVir, SpyBot anti spy ware, Gimp and Deep Paint ...
(FX for images), Open
Office, a pack of codecs for XP that allow the playing of nearly any video or
audio file you download plus a multi media player,
Windows media player (which the codecs update and enhance), Microsoft Movie
Maker (XP only).
If the system has a DVDRW or CDRW drive I install Nero 6 Lite that does about
everything in CD or DVD burning.
Most systems have XP Pro with Service Pack 2. I do not install Vista. Some system may have Windows
2000 which is very close to XP but runs a computer with a lot less RAM needed.
Please note on Vista ... it is a hog for resources and should NOT be used on
anything that is not really new. In addition ... it does not work with a lot of
add on devices you might use. The fact is you could have a new computer with all
the latest and greatest and with Vista it will be slower than an older but nice
machine with XP and XP is slower than Windows 2000. System stability "for
most uses" is nearly the same with all of the operating systems and
actually 2000 is probably more stable than XP for errors.
None of the systems have old files from prior owners. Hard drives are reformatted and new software installed.
